BREAKING | Notre Dame DL Jayson Ademilola Expected to Miss Extended Time

ISD has learned through multiple sources Notre Dame will be without junior defensive lineman Jayson Ademilola for Saturday’s game at Boston College and the foreseeable future.

We're told Ademilola suffered a partially torn meniscus during the Clemson game and could be out for around a month.

The good news is the Irish have a bye week following this weekend’s game at Boston College, so it will be one less game Ademilola could potentially miss as Notre Dame finds itself racing towards the College Football Playoff.

ISD’s Jamie Uyeyama believes losing Ademilola takes one of Notre Dame’s best interior rushers out of the lineup. The Irish should be fine in the Dime package with Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa in the rotation. This will likely elevate freshman Rylie Mills in the lineup, but there is a drop off between him and Ademilola.

Defensive line coach Mike Elston could also move Howard Cross III back to 3-technique and if so it will be a chance for him to step up as a pass rusher over the next few weeks.

The 6-foot-3, 279-pounder has played a crucial role this year along the Irish defensive front despite registering just four tackles as he's tied for the team lead with four QB hurries.

Ademilola has appeared in six games, including two starts in 2020.
