It wasn’t a clean performance from the Notre Dame defense. They gave up too many big plays (five receptions of 20 yards or more) and that is what allowed Boston College to put up points.

And yet, they did what they always do. They controlled the game with great situational defense. After three lost fumbles by the offense, the defense gave up -15 yards on seven plays with one interception. BC reached the red zone six times before garbage time, but only scored two touchdowns.
