Notre Dame After 2022 OL Aamil Wagner, Who Comes From Uber Athletic Family

Aamil Wagner‍ isn’t kidding when he says he comes from an athletic family.

Notre Dame offered the 2022 Ohio offensive lineman a scholarship last week, joining schools like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern, Kentucky, Oregon and Stanford among many others.

Wagner attends the same Wayne High School that current Notre Dame assistant coach Mike Mickens attended. Wagner had the chance to speak with Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn just prior to landing his offer and came away with a positive first impression.

He understands Notre Dame’s reputation both on and off the field and the offer is one it sounds like he’ll take very seriously.

Wagner isn’t going to rush his decision and is hoping the dead period will actually expire in April, giving him the chance to take visits.

Look for Wagner to put a Top 10 sometime later this winter or early spring.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder is an athletic tackle, who actually began his high school career as a wide receiver. That athleticism certainly runs in the family.

His father played linebacker at Jackson State University and his mother was a sprinter there.

His older brother, Ameer, played linebacker at Texas Southern while his brother, Ahmad, played basketball at Iowa for three years before transferring to Kentucky to play receiver for the Wildcat football squad for two. His sister, Amani, is currently a member of the Kentucky State track and field team.
