Recruitment Rundown
This one came together pretty quickly, but maybe not as quickly as it appeared. Evans was offered by the Irish at the end of June and he ended up committing one month later, but Notre Dame tight ends coach John McNulty had been in touch with Evans long before the offer was extended. Evans made an independent unofficial visit to South Bend – and was met by Blake Fisher – on July 18 and two weeks later, he went public with his commitment.

He chose Notre Dame over offers from schools like Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Florida State, Iowa and Duke among others.

Wadsworth Head Coach Justin Todd
“It’s a real combination of size and speed. You don’t see many guys that big who are able to run the way that he does. There’s evidence of that on his highlight film, where you’ll see him catch a ball and pull away from people. Even more impressive than that, not just his straight-line speed, he’s got some wiggle. With the ball in the open field, he’s certainly an issue to tackle because of his size, but he’s also a guy who’s got a little shake to him as well. I think the sky is the limit for Mitch when it comes to what he’s going to do in an offense because of all the gifts he has physically.”

ISD Expert Jamie Uyeyama
My grade is higher on him than the national composite because of his ceiling. He could be a monster with the size to be a force in-line and the athleticism to be a beast after the catch.

At a place like Notre Dame, he won’t be rushed onto the field because of the depth in front of him and he’ll need that time to develop, but if he puts in the work he has all of the tools that project for him to become another NFL Draft pick at tight end for the Irish.

“I won’t catch like 10 passes a year. I’ll actually get the ball thrown to me and they’ll develop me into a great player.”
