The Latest | 2022 CB Jaeden Gould
The secondary has become a priority for new Notre Dame defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman and he’ll be in contact with 2022 Bergen Catholic (N.J.) cornerback Jaeden Gould on Monday.
Gould, Notre Dame’s first offer of the 2022 recruiting class, released top group of Boston College, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, Tennessee, Texas and USC earlier this month, but that's likely to change moving forward. Clemson and Oklahoma offered following the four-star prospect releasing his top group, so it’s safe to say they’ll play a role in his recruitment.
Brian Kelly has been a fixture in Gould’s recruitment as the New Jersey native has been in contact with the head man and taken the message to heart.
“He’s just been telling me about their program and what they’ve been doing and how if I come there and be a part of that, it’s going to help me get to the next level and help me compete and play in big games and things like that,” Gould told Irish Sports Daily earlier this month.
Gould’s game is built on work ethic, so his personality should mesh well with Freeman, who comes from the same cloth. Remember, Gould wakes up at 5am every day to drive an hour to Bergen Catholic for school. That's at least two hours in a car and a great example of sacrifice, which bolds well for fitting into the Notre Dame culture.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder has been to Notre Dame before, so he knows what the program offers, so if Freeman and company can get him back to South Bend, it could bode well for the Irish.
