Explosive 2022 WR Jarel Williams In Contact with Notre Dame, Brian Kelly
Folks might not know the name Jarel Williams, but they will. The three-star receiver will only shoot up the rankings after a big junior campaign and every team in the country is looking for his skill set.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder has the rare combination of athleticism and speed while also being extremely explosive.
"Playing basketball, I just get a good workout in," Williams told ISD. "When we get out of practice, I have been working on getting bigger and my explosiveness."
This past fall, Williams showed off his explosiveness by recording 44 receptions for 800 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. He also holds a 3.8 GPA.
“I feel like I'm a deep ball threat," Williams stated. "My hands and ability to win one on one battles are good, being able to run every route and just making explosive plays."
The Irish came through with the offer on October 27th and have stayed in consistent contact with the Alabama native.
“Our relationship is pretty good," said Williams. "We communicate at least twice a week."
Williams has noticed Notre Dame's academic prestige and the success of making two appearances in the College Football Playoff in the last three years.
Brian Kelly seems to have made him a priority as he's also been in contact with the Saraland star.
"I talk to coach Brian Kelly the most and the Notre Dame recruiting page," explained Williams. "The message basically is just showing me about the players they have in the NFL and how good the program is."
Williams holds early offers from Notre Dame, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia, but there are more schools on the verge of offering.
Auburn, Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Louisville, Northwestern, South Carolina and Virginia Tech have all been in contact in recent weeks.
However, don't expect a quick decision from Williams as he's hoping to take a few visits before committing.
“I actually don't have a timetable yet," said Williams. "Hopefully, by this summer, I can narrow it down when I'm able to take some visits.”
