Torii Hunter Jr. will not return to Notre Dame, as he released a statement on Thursday afternoon state he would not be pursuing a fifth year at the University.
In his time at Notre Dame, the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder battled injuries early, including a broken leg in a high school all-star game prior to his arrival, but overcame them to put together productive junior and senior seasons. As a junior, the Texas native recorded 28 catches for 363 yards and two scores.
Hunter was elected a captain prior to the 2016 season and he recorded 38 receptions for 521 yards and three touchdowns.
During his senior year, Hunter did also battle through a concussion he suffered week one and then a nagging knee injury he suffered against Navy.
Last summer, the Los Angeles Angels drafted Hunter with a 23rd round pick and the outfielder did sign with the Angles. Hunter did play baseball at Notre Dame, but was used primarily as a defensive replacement and a pinch runner.
