National Signing Day!

It’s lost some luster if you’re a Notre Dame fan, but it’s also a positive as the Irish locked up 26 signees in December, including the 14 early enrollees who start class today.

Notre Dame running back commit Logan Diggs‍ will have all eyes watching as he’ll make a final decision at 4:30 PM ET. The ISD four-star prospect is down to Notre Dame and LSU as the Tigers seem to have made a late push after offering on December 9th.

For Diggs, it’s been a difficult process as the NCAA restricting visits complicated his decision and being comfortable with his commitment to the Irish. The 6-foot, 195-pounder gave a verbal pledge to Brian Kelly on July 29th without ever visiting South Bend.

The Archbishop Rummel (La.) star did make it to campus on December 5th, as the Irish hosted Syracuse, but due to rules, Diggs wasn’t able to actually go to the game. Diggs was able to take a self-guided tour of the campus and greater South Bend area to see what he was getting himself into, but was unable to meet with the players or staff.

LSU made the decision even tougher offering one week before the Early Signing Period started and Diggs has been torn ever since. It’d be easy to go an hour up the road to Baton Rouge, a place he’s familiar with and be close to his support system. It would only make sense as it’s comfortable and I’m not sure many would blame him.

Yet, it’s evident Notre Dame has struck a chord with him and it has prevented him from making the “easy” decision to flip his commitment.

All in all, Notre Dame is in good shape with 2021 recruiting and Diggs sticking with the Irish would be the icing on the cake.
