2023 DE Denzel Moore Talks Notre Dame Offer & More
Denzel Moore and Mike Elston had been chatting for a bit, but Tuesday’s chat between the 2023 Georgia defensive end and the Irish defensive line coach was different.
“He said he had a surprise for me,” Moore recalled. “He said, 'We would like to offer you.'
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Moore said it was “great” to hear the news.
“Because what he told me was Notre Dame is not like any other school, they're really a great school,” the Meadowcreek High School star said.
“They're big on education. And he said, 'We would love for you to be here. I was like, 'Yeah. Great. I can't wait to visit.'”
Moore plans on getting to South Bend once the dead period is lifted.
“I would like to really see the view of the school, the coaches, build a relationship, all that,” he said.
Elston certainly made a strong impression.
“He seems like a great coach,” Moore said. “He sends people to The League, so that'll be a great opportunity for me to go there and go to the NFL. I felt like he is a great guy on and off the field.”
And Elston is certainly impressed with Moore.
“He said I've got very good speed,” Moore recalled. “My hands are very great. He said they love me coming off the edge and getting to the quarterback. That'd be a good opportunity for them.”
He has a lengthy list of offers already, which includes Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan, Nebraska and Texas A&M among several others.
But a few are sticking out already that he says he knows he wants to visit.
“Notre Dame, Georgia, Indiana,” he said.
Being the in-state school should help the Bulldogs get Moore’s attention and maybe some future visits, but that alone won’t be enough to land him.
“A really great education, how the coaches are, the facilities, all that,” Moore said of what’s important to him.
He expects to make that decision sometime toward the end of his junior year or the beginning of his senior season.
