In recent years, Notre Dame isn’t used to losing back-to-back games, but the Irish have done just that losing to Villanova and Purdue. The Irish held big double-digit leads only to see the lead dwindle in the final moments of the game.
Notre Dame hasn’t had a guy simply take over the game in crunch time and that is something they will need to address heading into ACC play. It’s not likely they will get that opportunity on Monday evening, as the game against Colgate shouldn’t be close.
This game will provide Notre Dame to get momentum back on its side and head into Christmas break with a win to build off of. Notre Dame will return to action on December 28th against St. Peter’s and then start ACC play on December 31st, so this game is crucial to get into a rhythm.
If I am head coach Mike Brey, I try to get VJ Beachem going early and keep him going throughout the game. Beachem has struggled the last two games on the offensive end and he’s a player that simply can’t have offensive struggles in big games going forward.
Brey said he didn’t need to push the senior forward’s buttons and he is an experienced player, but I would run some stuff early to try get him back into a flow on the offensive end.
