Kayin Lee‍ already had a good impression of Notre Dame’s defense and after a conversation with Irish cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens, who delivered a scholarship offer on St. Patrick’s Day, the 2023 Georgia defensive back has a good feel for him as well.

“It's a big school that I'm very much interested in,” said Lee.

“They fly around to the ball, it's very physical on their defensive side of the ball from what I've seen so far. They have very big DBs and physical DBs that I like to watch.”

Lee’s offer sheet also includes schools like Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Maryland among many others.

Mickens’ messages to the Cedar Grove High School standout were clear.

“I can really fit the program,” Lee recalled. “He sees something in me that a lot of schools don't see and that I can come up there and be able to focus on school; education first and then football second.

“He seems like a really good guy that I can get to meet and I feel like I can be able to stay in my comfort zone and I can be able to stay in his comfort zone and build a great relationship and hopefully I'll be able to better myself as a man from talking to him.”

Lee wants to get to South Bend to see Notre Dame for himself when he can.

“Of course,” he said. “That's a school I really would want to visit because that's a big school right there and just to see that they're showing interest in me is a real big deal to me.”

He doesn’t have a firm list of favorites at this point, but does know what he’s looking for.

“Somewhere I can come in and fulfill my dreams and better myself as a young man and be able to be in there for maybe three to four years, really three, and be able to get out of here and go to the Draft and play in the NFL.”
