2023 DE Victor Burley Talks Notre Dame Offer
Victor Burley was fired up about the offer he received from Notre Dame last week as much as it what it says about the 2023 Georgia defensive lineman off the field as on it.
“It really made me proud to say I have good enough grades for their standards,” Burley said on Sunday from the Under Armour Regional in Atlanta. “It was really great.”
The Warner Robins High School star landed the offer from Irish defensive line coach Mike Elston, who said they’d been trying to reach him for a while.
“He was saying, 'We really want you. We were trying to get it touch with you before, but we couldn't. We couldn't find your coaches. But now that we've got you on the phone, I want to tell you that we want to offer you,’” Burley explained.
“I took that in. It really made me proud as a student more than an athlete.”
The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder also has offers from schools like Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Michigan State and USC among several others.
Burley said distance won’t prevent him from attending school in South Bend.
“If they pique my interest and if I want to go there, I will,” he said. “Even though it might be a far away from home, I'll still make the trip.
“Notre Dame has a great football program. I saw them in the Playoffs last year. It's just a great program.”
