It didn’t take long for 2022 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School (Ga.) defensive end Darren Agu‍ to make up his mind on his future school.

Alabama and Notre Dame offered the 6-foot-7, 235-pounder last Thursday night and Agu committed to the Fighting Irish over the weekend.

“The Notre Dame offer really meant a lot to me,” Agu told ISD. “They are one of the best in college football and the education means a lot as well. To graduate from Notre Dame, you're set for life. The offer was really important to me."

Agu, a London native, has only played seven high school football games in the US, but he’s one of the most coveted prospects in the country. The three-star prospect holds offers from over 30 programs including Alabama, Auburn Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Tennessee.

And despite having offers from some of the top programs in the country, the balance of academics and athletics was the tipping point for Agu.

"What is attractive about Notre Dame is the education and the consistent development of high-level football players,” said Agu.

Notre Dame is also building of the top defensive line classes in the country as Agu will join Tyson Ford‍ and Aiden Gobaira‍ in Elston’s 2022 defensive end haul.
