2022 Notre Dame LB Commit Joshua Burnham Can't Wait To Get Back

Joshua Burnham‍ wasn’t able to make it down to South Bend for an independent unofficial visit this past weekend as originally planned, but the 2022 Notre Dame linebacker commit is hoping to get back as soon as possible.

On St. Patrick’s Day, the Traverse City Central High School star chose the Irish over from schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin.

“It's really just the culture behind Notre Dame, it was unreal,” he says. “A lot of things just felt like that was the place for me. It was the best fit, so we decided to pull the trigger and that's where I want to be for the next couple years.”

An self-guided tour of the campus in South Bend in February helped close the deal for Burnham and he can’t wait to get back.

“If that spring game gets opened to the public, I'm definitely going to try to get down there and watch some of that,” says the Michigan native.

It seems unlikely that Notre Dame will adjust its current attendance policy for this weekend’s Blue-Gold Game, which allows only students, faculty members and family of the players by Saturday.

But whenever he can get back to South Bend, Burnham will.

“Definitely meeting some of the coaches if that's a possibility, just really seeing campus again,” he says of what he hopes to do when he gets back. “That place is awesome.”

In addition to campus, Burnham is thrilled with the relationships he’s built with the Irish staff, specifically defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman and assistant Nick Lezynski.

“Oh, it's crazy,” says Burnham. “Even how much it's grown in the past two, three months. Those guys are awesome. Just being able to say I have a relationship with them is awesome and to know how strong it is. I can call them whenever during the day and they'll pick up and answer any questions I have. It's a blessing.”

He’s looking forward to building on those relationships in person and the relationships he has with the other current members of Notre Dame’s 2022 recruiting class.

“We have a group that we all talk with each other. I haven't met any of them in person yet, but we're all definitely looking forward to meeting each other.”
