The Cleveland Browns have selected linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah with the 52nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Owusu-Koramoah tallied 134 career tackles, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles, seven passes defended and one interception during his two years as a starter for the Fighting Irish.

The reigning Butkus Award winner recorded 61 tackles, three passes defended, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception in 2020.

"What we thought we had with him immediately was somebody that was going to be a playmaker on defense,” Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said. “We saw a guy that closed on the ball, had really good instincts and we just didn't know when that would occur. It happened early in his career because he played so explosively.

"I think we were all excited about an elite athlete and it was going to be a matter of time for when he picked up on things. I think we adapted to him and did a really good job of adapting to his skill set, which we should when you get a player of that ability. That ability needs to show itself. I think we did a pretty good job of putting the defense together and not making it such that he couldn't get on the field early.

"They're going to love him. He's a tool that you can use in many different situations in the NFL."

The Virginia native chose Notre Dame over Appalachian State, Dartmouth, Marshall, NC State, Old Dominion, Princeton, Temple, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest and Yale during his recruiting process.
