2021 NFL Draft | WR Javon McKinley Signs with Detroit
The Detroit Lions have signed Notre Dame receiver Javon McKinley as an undrafted free agent. He’ll join Jalen Elliott, Tommy Kraemer, Brock Wright and the Okwara brothers on the Lions.
McKinley made 31 appearances for Notre Dame, including 14 starts over his final two seasons.
He played in six games as a true freshman, but did not record a catch and then missed his entire 2017 season recovering from a broken leg. In 2018, McKinley didn't record a catch in four games, but in 2019, the California native grabbed 11 receptions for 268 yards and four touchdowns.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder recorded 42 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns in 2020 and was named All-ACC Honorable Mention.
McKinley was ranked as a four-star prospect and chose Notre Dame over Oregon and Washington at the All-American Bowl after silently committing to the Irish around Christmas.
