Adams Proves He Belongs At Under Armour

ORLANDO – David Adams may not stand out at first glance among the linebacker group down here this week in the practices leading up to Sunday’s Under Armour All-America Football Game.

But he doesn’t look out of place either and the 2017 Notre Dame commit certainly looks like he belongs once the whistle is blown.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder from Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School may not have the physique of a consensus five-star like Dylan Moses, but few do. Adams may not possess the explosive athleticism that Moses does either, but again few do.

What Adams does have is great instincts and a nose for the ball that few others do.

“I’m learning a lot from some great coaches and I’m excited for the game on Sunday,” Adams said of the week so far following Wednesday’s second practice.

“It’s an amazing honor. There’s some amazing players here and I’m just learning a lot from everyone.”

Adams said it’s important to have faith in his knowledge of the game while also taking in what the all-star coaching staff has been teaching him.

“You just have to read your keys and listen to your coaches and you’re going to make plays,” said Adams, who has made plenty of plays so far.

The Pennsylvania native is still adjusting to the climate down here.

“I’m getting there,” he laughed. “I’m sunburnt.”

Adams has been sporting a bulky brace on his right arm as the result of a shoulder injury he suffered early in the fall.

“The first game of the season, I just extended on a guy and it just tore I guess and it started hurting like crazy,” he said.

The injury has made it difficult for Adams to do what he would like in the weight room.

“It’s hard to heavy lift on and it hurts obviously,” he said.

He’ll get it examined further next week.

“After this game, I have to go to the doctor again to see if I have to get it operated on or not,” said Adams.

But for now, his focus is on preparing to make the plays on Sunday that he’s been making all week.
