2023 LB Josiah Trotter Impressed with Notre Dame

June 5, 2021

2023 St. Joseph's (Pa.) linebacker Josiah Trotter‍ was one of Marcus Freeman's first linebackers offered when he took the Notre Dame job and the four-star prospect made his way to South Bend on Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder was joined by his family and the Trotter family left impressed with what they saw at Notre Dame.

"It went well," Trotter told ISD. "We really enjoyed the visit. They took us all around the campus and it was beautiful. We got to see the football facility and the training room too.

"They really showed us everything Notre Dame had to offer."

For Trotter, the chance to meet with Freeman and the staff members was refreshing as it was in-person instead of a phone call or Zoom.

"He's a really cool dude," stated Trotter. "Getting to meet him in person instead of just talking on the phone was good. He's down to earth and really knows his stuff about football."

Freeman's vision for Trotter wasn't too different than most programs as he sees the St. Joseph's star as an inside backer.

The first-year defensive coordinator also explained some of his defensive scheme and how Trotter would fit into that if he decided on the blue and gold.

"He sees me at the Mike or Will position," explained Trotter. "His philosophy is to attack the ball. He big on running to the ball and play through the ball carrier."

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly also left a positive impression on Trotter during the visit as they discussed several important topics.

"At the end, we had a meeting with him and got to talk to him," Trotter stated. "He's a cool dude too. He talked to us about campus and where he came from and how he started. He spoke about his family and education. He let us know about what Notre Dame offers and what you would be able to get as far as an education."

Trotter will visit Ohio State on Monday before heading to the South.
