The Latest | Notre Dame & 2022 WR Elic Ayomanor
This morning, we mentioned Elic Ayomanor as a 2022 prospect worth keeping an eye on in terms of a potential offer.
The Notre Dame staff was intrigued with what they saw from him on tape coming into the camp and the Irish were clearly impressed with what they saw in person because they did offer the Deerfield Academy prospect a scholarship after Irish Invasion.
Deerfield Academy head coach Brian Barbaro wasn’t surprised by the offer.
“He's a really, really talented kid,” the coach said of Ayomanor. “He ran a 10.8 and set records in the 100 meters this spring at 6-3 and 212 pounds.”
Ayomanor was excited about the trip and the offer, according to Barbaro.
“He went out there and did the things he was supposed to do,” the coach said. “He ran a 4.52, again at 6-3, 212 pounds.
“He had a great camp, he had a great experience and he ran really well. He caught every ball that was thrown to him. It was a good time.”
The Canadian also checks the boxes off the field, according to the coach.
“As good of a football player as he is, he's a really smart kid,” Barbaro added. “He's a 97, 98 at Deerfield, which is ridiculous.
“And as good of a football player and as good of a student as he is, he's an even better person. He's an awesome kid.”
He adds Notre Dame to a deep offer sheet that already included schools like Penn State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arizona, Cal, Virginia, Vanderbilt and a host of Ivy League schools.
With the offer, we fully expect the Irish to make a major leap toward the top of his list. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him return to South Bend within a matter of weeks.
He’s scheduled to be at Stanford later this month and that’s another offer we’re told Ayomanor covets.
We think there’s a chance Ayomanor will make his final choice before July.
