2023 S Jack Luttrell Impressed with Notre Dame, Chris O'Leary
2023 Hebron Christian Academy (Ga.) safety Jack Luttrell got his first look at Notre Dame on Sunday after receiving an offer from the Irish in April.
The Georgia native was fresh off a trip to Clemson and noticed Notre Dame's campus was immediately different.
"One of the biggest colleges I've been to is Clemson and I was there Saturday," Luttrell told ISD. "Everything was compact and it felt like everything was on top of each other.
"The first thing I told my dad was Notre Dame was open and a bunch of green grass, trees and flowers. It was really neat."
Notre Dame Stadium also impressed Luttrell as soon as he saw it.
"Once we got to campus, it was like a dream," said Luttrell. "I told my dad once we saw the stadium that it was like a dream feeling because everything looked so big and pretty. It was really cool."
Luttrell made the trip to see the campus, but also to compete at Irish Invasion.
It was a chance for him to work with Notre Dame safeties coach Chris O'Leary and get a feel for his coaching style.
"It was really good," stated Luttrell. "All the coaches said it was one of the best camps to come to because of the competition. It was good going against some of the top recruits in the country."
The trip also allowed Luttrell to actually speak face-to-face for the first time as everything had been done virtually over the last two months.
"The only thing I've been able to do is call them or Skype them all spring," explained Luttrell. "Having that first interaction in person was really cool and actually getting to meet them."
O'Leary's energy and passion immediately stood out, but it was the connection on and off the field that impressed Luttrell the most.
"I got it from the moment we stepped out of the car," Luttrell explained. "He dabbed me up and was like, 'Let's go. We got you here.' I like that about him.
"I love him. He's really honest and upfront with you. He's also really personal and he cares about you as a football player and also off the field."
Luttrell will now take several more visits over the next two weeks as he hopes to add to his offer list and simply experience what other programs have to offer.
"I know I'm going to a bunch of camps within the next 13 days," said Luttrell. "I don't know when my decision will be, but it could happen soon."
