2023 Bishop Gorman LB Palaie Faoa Enjoys First Look at Notre Dame
2023 Bishop Gorman (Nev.) linebacker Palaie Faoa made his first trip out to see Notre Dame with several of his teammates last weekend for Irish Invasion.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder got to campus a day before the camp and was able to take in some of the historic sights around campus.
"We did a tour on campus - a little unofficial visit,” Faoa told ISD. “We took some pictures and got to see the facility and coaches. We had a meeting with all the coaches. It was great."
Faoa had heard a great deal about Notre Dame from folks around him and Bishop Gorman defensive backs coach Nicco Fertitta going into the visit and it lived up to the hype.
"It was everything I thought it would be,” stated Faoa. “The church and the Golden Dome really stuck out to me. It was very impressive."
The Las Vegas native also got to meet with Notre Dame defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. The two were able to talk about several things, including the standard in the program.
"I talked to Coach Freeman about making a change in the defense and what he's doing,” explained Faoa. “He's been here for four months, so he's new. He talked about the Golden Standard and my cousin Myron (Tagovailoa-Amosa) and how he's a good kid on and off the field."
It was the first time Faoa had met Freeman and he came away super impressed.
"He's a great coach,” Faoa said. “I heard a lot about him. He's good. The way he talked to me, I felt really comfortable."
As far as the camp, Faoa felt he had a productive camp and will now figure out what other schools he wants to visit this summer.
"It was good to compete in front of all the coaches,” said Faoa. “It was great. That was the main thing we came out here to do. Going against the running backs and tight ends was great."
