2022 Centennial (Calif.) cornerback  Jaden Mickey‍ committed to Notre Dame in March without ever stepping on campus.

The four-star prospect and his parents made the trip to South Bend this weekend and Mickey's future home didn't disappoint.

"It was good," Mickey told ISD. "I've been on Zooms with them for a long time. Getting to hang out and seeing everything was really cool.

"The campus was very pretty. I didn't expect it to be as great as it was."

Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens built a strong relationship with the 6-foot, 175-pounder over the last few months and Mickey saw the same guy he had gotten to know over the phone.

"I love him," explained Mickey. "He's a very competitive guy and that's how I am. We're going to click a lot.

"He brings energy to the football field and you can see how he connects with his players too. I love it."

Defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman also spent a ton of time with Mickey during the trip.

"He's really cool," stated Mickey. "We were getting to know each other more all weekend. We got to hang out and we talked about literally everything."

Mickey also saw a perfect fit with the Notre Dame defensive backs during the weekend.

"It was fun," Mickey said. "I got to meet a lot of the DB room and they were all real cool people. You can see the love they have for each other. I can't wait to be in that room.

The 48 hours on campus weren't about selling Mickey, but he left South Bend knowing he committed to the perfect school.

"I'm definitely confident I made the right decision," said Mickey.
