Tyson Ford‍ took an official visit to Notre Dame last month and had been hoping to return to South Bend for another trip for the Irish’s BBQ next week.

But the 2022 Notre Dame defensive end commit’s primary responsibilities still lie with his John Burroughs School teammates.

“I was going to try to make it, but I have a football thing with my school team, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it,” the St. Louis native says.

After getting his first look at his future home last month, Ford was hoping to make the trip as much for others as himself.

“I know it isn’t going to be just Notre Dame commits and stuff up there,” he says. “I knew there was going to be other recruits there and I thought it would be a good chance to talk them into committing.”

He didn’t have any specific prospects in mind to go after and was looking forward to returning to South Bend for his own reasons as well.

“Just to get accustomed with the team and get to know some of my future teammates,” says Ford.

Whether he makes it next week or not, he already has plans to get back in the fall.

“I'm definitely going to be at the USC game this year, October 23rd,” he says. “I'll definitely be up there for that game.

“I'm sure it will be a mad house. I'm sure the stadium will be rocking, it will be extremely loud. I think the games going to be real good. I think it's going to be really competitive this year.”
