Video | ACC Commissioner on Possibility of Notre Dame Football Joining the Conference
College football is just around the corner and that means ACC Media Days. Notre Dame isn’t in the conference this year, but ACC commissioner Jim Phillips was asked about the possibility of the Fighting Irish football program joining the ACC.
Phillips, who has two children at Notre Dame, felt everyone saw the “beautiful and beneficial relationship” between the Irish and ACC last season, but he’s fully aware of how much the program values its independence.
“They know the ACC’s interest,” said Phillips. “It’s been less than bashful. It’s been less than bashful since I’ve been here, but I also respect where they’re at and I respect where we're at. Our concentration right now is on our 14 schools. Who knows where the future’s going to go, but I love the group of schools that we have.”
