Notre Dame has its first 2022 commit as Phillips Exeter Academy (N.H.) power forward Dom Campbell‍ has given a verbal pledge to Mike Brey and the Fighting Irish.

"Everything felt right,” Campbell told ISD. “Coach Brey seemed like the right coach for me and it seemed like the right system for me.

"I really like Coach (Ryan) Humphrey and all the assistant coaches. I had a good time with the guys when I was there. The facilities were also really beautiful. It just felt like the right place for me."

The 6-foot-9, 235-pounder committed virtually to the Notre Dame staff earlier on Wednesday and the coaches couldn’t have been happier.

"I had a zoom with them a couple hours ago with my whole family,” explained Campbell. “I told them I was ready to commit. They were all smiles. I had a good conversation with Coach Brey afterward."

South Bend has been the home of the stretch four and Campbell plans to leave his mark as the next great power forward under Brey.

"I'm going to bring a hard-nosed style of play,” Campbell stated. “I'm going to be physical, but I'm also going to be able to stretch the floor and shoot 3s. I plan to be a great player there."

Campbell is also glad to have his recruitment behind him as the focus will be on his future at Notre Dame.

"It's really exciting and relieving to not talking to coaches about the decision,” said Campbell. “I'm also excited about what the future holds for me and my family."
