2023 Arthur (Ill.) athlete Kaden Feagin‍ got a quick look at Notre Dame last month as he was in South Bend for camp.

On Tuesday, the 6-foot-3, 221-pounder got an in-depth look at the Irish program and an offer from head coach Brian Kelly.

"It was crazy," Feagin told ISD. "I was expecting it, but even when Coach Kelly said it, I was surprised.

"We were just talking and then he just kind of said it out of nowhere. It was almost random."

Feagin stars at running back now, but he also has the frame and skill set to play on the defensive side of the ball. Notre Dame didn't state a specific position, but Feagin is open to all possibilities at the moment.

"I'm not sure yet," Feagin said when asked if Notre Dame offered at a specific position. "They had me go with the running backs and I'm guessing running back. At the camp, they had me try out outside linebacker a little bit."

Running backs coach Lance Taylor did spend most of the day with Feagin and he left a positive impression on the Illinois native.

"I got to spend basically the whole day with Coach Taylor," said Feagin. "He's straight to business and I really like that about him."

Notre Dame also left quite the impression on the Arthur star as he got the full experience on this visit.

"It was just really chill," explained Feagin. "They showed us around the campus and I got to meet all the coaches. I had conversations with them too.

"I got to do the jersey photoshoot and everything. It was a super nice visit."

One of the highlights on this trip was meeting one of Notre Dame's biggest names.

"I got to meet Kyren Williams at the BBQ," Feagin stated. "We were talking about how he loved the BBQ competition and we just had a normal conversation."

Feagin will now turn his attention to his season and planning fall visits following one more recruiting visit this week.

"I'm going to Illinois on Friday and that's my last visit for the summer," Feagin said. "We're going to try to go to the Notre Dame-USC game in the fall."

Feagin is also taking his time with the process and expects to commit next summer.

"I'll probably commit next year around this time."
