2023 DB Moussa Kane Sees Potential Fit At Notre Dame

Moussa Kane‍ didn’t know a ton about Notre Dame coming into Tuesday’s visit for the Irish’s BBQ event.

If there’s one thing the 2023 New Jersey defensive back knows coming out of the visit, it’s that Notre Dame is a school that he’s interested in.

“Everything was really good,” the Blair Academy standout told Irish Sports Daily following the visit.

“I think it was scheduled well and they made a lot of really convincing points. The coaches and the whole staff were showing a lot of love.”

Kane picked up offers from Clemson and Penn State at camps earlier in the summer to go with offers from schools like Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Boston College, Rutgers and Purdue.

Notre Dame’s pitch about its blend of athletics and academics hit home with Kane.

“They were showing us how they were the best academic school in contention of a national title,” Kane said. “They were saying, 'You could try to win a national title at all these other schools that are really good, but would you also get an Ivy-League type of education at those other schools? Which you can't.'

Kane spent most of his time with Irish assistants Mike Mickens and Chris O'Leary along with senior analyst Chad Bowden.

“They were real genuine guys,” Kane said. “They were happy to see me. I was happy to see them. Coach O'Leary and Coach Mickens, they were teaching me a lot about how to play how to play my position. They were just there to educate me.”

Kane was also struck by the campus.

“The campus was beautiful,” he said “It was beautiful. It was very spacious. It's in a nice quiet place. Coach O'Leary was also telling me that how out of the blue, somebody famous will pop up, like Joe Theismann pops up every once in a while. Mike Golic was there. It's a pretty interesting place.”

Kane said he will “definitely” get back to South Bend in the future.

“I like it a lot. I think it fits what me and my parents are looking for in terms of a great football school and also a great educational school.”
