2023 LHP Tore Indomenico Goes In-Depth on Notre Dame Commitment
Notre Dame signed its first top 25 recruiting class in program history in 2021.
Link Jarrett and his staff have followed that up with a top 30 2022 class and the 2023 class was ranked No. 25 before last weekend.
The Fighting Irish will rise in the rankings as 2023 St. Ignatius (Ill.) LHP Tore Indomenico went public with his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday.
"I go to St. Ignatius and it's very academic-focused," Indomenico told ISD. "I think part of the decision was about finding a good balance between academics and athletics.
"The way Notre Dame has been playing baseball for the past year or two, the program is really on the come up and the incoming classes are really good. The athletic part was there and obviously, the academic piece speaks for itself."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder chose the Irish several top programs, including ACC rival Louisville.
"Arizona, Arkansas, Louisville and Indiana were probably the top ones," said Indomenico. "I was talking to probably around 25 schools but when it came down to it, I knew Notre Dame was the right fit as soon as I stepped on campus."
Notre Dame has made headlines over the last two seasons as Jarrett has the Irish trending the right way.
In fact, it's probably not a stretch to say the Irish likely wouldn't have landed Indomenico if not for the quick turnaround by Jarrett and his staff.
"You can just look back on the previous records and Coach Jarrett came in and changed the program," stated Indomenico. "The incoming classes look really good and it was just a no-brainer when I visited."
Speaking of those incoming classes, Illinois has been a hot spot for the Irish as Notre Dame has landed several top talents in the 2022 and 2023 classes, which Indomenico has noticed.
"I've played against two of the older kids this year in Owen Murphy and Estevan Moreno," Indomenico said. "I know Brady (Louck) and (Ryan) Hussey. We played against each other in travel ball.
"I also played with Troy (Reader) at the USA tournament. It's kind of cool when you know a bunch of kids going into it."
It will be two years before Indomenico arrives on campus, but the Irish have high hopes for the lefty.
"They want me as a starter and the goal is to have me ready as soon as I come in freshman year," explained Indomenico. "I have a three-pitch mix as of now and I'm working on a fourth pitch. I can throw all of them for strikes and I have a good feel for my stuff.
"They like my presence I have on the mound. I'm not a shy, quiet guy out there. You can feel and see it. I compete and I have a little bit of a fiery attitude as well."
Indomenico's fastball sits around 86-88 mph, but his slider and changeup have drawn a ton of praise from scouts this summer.
"I throw a four-seam fastball as my normal fastball," Indomenico said. "It naturally tails, so it's got an almost two-seam look to it even though it's a four-seam. I throw a slider that cuts the opposite way. My changeup has good depth and good fade to it.
"I kind of have a spray coming at kids and all my pitches come out of the same arm slot, so you can't really tell which pitch I'm throwing right out of the arm. It truly helps a lot.
The fourth pitch the Illinois native hopes to add will be a cutter.
"I naturally get around the ball, which isn't the best," Indomenico explained. "You want to stay behind it, but if I can develop a pitch that lets me get around the ball naturally, I think I'll have some good success."
