2023 Irvington (N.J.) defensive back Adon Shuler‍ wasted little time finding his future home after being offered by Notre Dame just over three months ago as the four-star prospect committed to the Fighting Irish on Sunday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder added an offer from the Irish on May 13th and then made his way to South Bend at the end of July.

Three weeks later, Shuler is all Irish as Notre Dame held off Maryland and Penn State.

"The campus is beautiful," Shuler told ISD after his visit. "What you see on TV is exactly what you get there. It's definitely beautiful; the Dome, the stadium, the dorms, everything.

"The experience was nice. The coaching staff was amazing. I had great connections with them."

Defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman identified Shuler early when he was at Cincinnati and his efforts along with Chad Bowden and Chris O'Leary weren't unnoticed.

"He was excited about Adon when he was at Cincinnati," Irvington head coach Ashley Pierre said. "Adon is a national prospect, so he got to Notre Dame and not too long after he landed, he reached out to me about Adon.

"Him and Chad (Bowden) and those guys knew who he was, knew what he was about, knew what I was about, how I prepare my guys. We've had a lot of national guys that have been in this position. They jumped all over him. They love his playing style, it fits what Freeman has done in the past with defenses. We got on Zoom a couple of times and the phone a couple of times. They love who Adon is and what he's going to become."

Shuler was aware of Notre Dame's pipeline to New Jersey, but O'Leary also emphasized it during his recruitment.

"I'm from Jersey, so he loves Jersey kids," laughed Shuler. "He always says the kids from Jersey they have now set a different standard when they come to Notre Dame. I know Shayne (Simon), Clarence (Lewis), the (Ademilola) twins."

The Irish see Shuler as a safety and Shuler has dedicated his offseason to becoming one of the nation's top safeties in the 2023 class.

"Coach O'Leary says my playing style is very unique because I can play in the box as well as out in coverage," explained Shuler. "Tackling is something I really pride myself on. This offseason, I've focused on my man coverage, better ball skills - playing both sides of the ball, you have to have ball skills, but on defense, your ball skills have to be even better. I want to get stronger and more fluid out of my breaks."

Pierre also believes Shuler is just scratching the surface of his potential as his star is just 15 years old.

"In New Jersey, we've got kids playing unlimited Pop Warner at 14 years old and Adon was able to play at an exceptionally high level with us at the age of 14 last season," said Pierre.

"He hasn't even scratched the surface. He's long. He's physical as hell. He's being coached by some guys who played at the highest level who demand a certain amount. We demand so much as far as coaching, that's only going to make him even better. He hasn't even scratched the surface. He's got a lot of football ahead of him. He's young as hell and he's only going to get better and bigger and stronger, faster."
