2023 QB Colbey Lamberth Visiting Notre Dame This Weekend
Notre Dame will be hosting a 2023 quarterback for its home opener against Toledo on Saturday.
Colbey Lamberth has early offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and UNC-Charlotte. The Tennessee native will be making the trip up to South Bend following Dickson County High School’s game on Friday night.
“I've been in touch with them for a while now,” the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder said. “I got an email talking about this weekend, asking me to come up, so we got our tickets and we're going to head on up there.
“I just feel like it's a prestigious program, one of the best in the country always. I really like the movie ‘Rudy.’ That's always been one of my lifetime favorite movies. Getting to go up there and check out Notre Dame, where that movie is based, I feel like that'll be a really cool experience.”
Lamberth is looking forward to checking out what’s on campus.
“I just want to tour the facilities and see all the things they have to offer up there, not just with football, but also with school programs and stuff like that,” he said.
He called the early offers a “blessing.”
“Those schools giving me the opportunity, having trust in me and offering me a scholarship to play at their school, it's just been a really cool feeling for me,” he said.
Coaches like his ability to stand in the pocket and make throws with his strong arm while also improvising to make plays when necessary.
He has some other trips coming up later this Fall.
“I'm supposed to go to Ole Miss next weekend and then Tennessee the weekend after that,” he said. “I'm supposed to get up to Kentucky sometime soon also.”
It’s early, but he has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.
“Just where I feel welcome and also not just the football aspect, but what's going to help me in life after football.”
