2022 Notre Dame Hoops Commit Dom Campbell Returns To Campus

A summer trip to South Bend helped seal the Dom Campbell’s commitment to Notre Dame.

A return to South Bend this weekend offered a more relaxed experience for the 2022 power forward.

“It was really good,” the 6-foot-9, 235-pounder told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “I had a really good time. I went to the football game. The energy was crazy. That's the first time I've ever seen anything like that. It was just really a good experience overall.

“It was a little different because there wasn't as much recruiting. It was more just like a reunion. It was more of a celebratory visit rather than an informative visit. So, it was really just good vibes the whole time.”

The Phillips Exeter Academy star enjoyed the opportunity to hang out with the current players.

“I spent a good amount of time around all the guys,” he said. “My host was Matt Zona. I had a really good time with him. We spent a lot of time together.

Campbell plays for the same Middlesex Magic AAU program that produced Cormac Ryan and Pat Connaughton. This weekend’s visit served as confirmation that he made the right decision back in July, when he committed to the Irish over programs like Oklahoma, Tennessee, Stanford, Providence, Boston College and a host of Ivy League schools.

The Notre Dame coaching staff is pumped to have him.

“Their message was just to keep working hard,” Campbell said. “They're really excited about me and a couple of other guys that we're trying to get. They think that me and the addition of hopefully JJ Starling and then one other big would be perfect.”

Campbell plans on ramping up his own recruitment efforts of guys like Starling, Elijah Saunders and Ven-Allen Lubin soon.

“I've talked to them a little bit, but not too much from that. I'm going to have to get on that and try to get them over here.”
