NIL | Notre Dame's Ademilola Twins Releasing NFT
Jayson and Justin Ademilola are in a unique position as the twins not only chose Notre Dame, but have become critical pieces to the Fighting Irish defense.
It's rare for twins to play at this level, but even more uncommon to see both find success on the field.
The NIL world has started to see the opportunity as Vayner Sports quickly signed the twins and then the Ademilolas announced a deal with Six Star Pro Nutrition shortly after.
On Tuesday, the Ademilola twins are taking it up a notch as Candy announced an NFT for both players will be dropping on Friday along with Auburn quarterback Bo Nix and UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
"It's pretty unique to be one of the first dudes around the country," Jayson Ademilola told ISD. "It's awesome for me and my brother to have an NFT. I feel it's going to be legendary."
What's an NFT?
A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a digital ledger.
If you're looking for an easier definition, Forbes explains it as: An NFT is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.
It's a new collectible and it was a no-brainer for the Ademilola twins to get involved when the opportunity presented itself.
"We're getting older and NFT's are going to become more popular," explained Ademilola. "To say I'm going to be one of the first - I can't wait to be one of the first collegiate athletes to get one."
Now, Ademilola admits he had to educate himself on what an NFT was, but he soon learned he could be one of the first collegiate athletes in the space.
"It's 2021," stated Ademilola. "They told me and I started to do a little research. When I first learned about NFT, it wasn't super popular, but I'm seeing and reading a lot of articles and NFTs have become super popular.
"To be able to get in on it was a no-brainer."
The NIL market continues to grow by the day and the Ademilola twins have taken full advantage together, which isn't lost on the family.
"My brother is my best friend," said Ademilola. "We've been together since birth, so it's been a great opportunity and blessing for my family that we get to do business together. It's a great opportunity and we're blessed."
