Jaden Mickey‍ returned to South Bend this past weekend for the first time since an official visit over the summer and the 2022 Notre Dame cornerback commit was once again impressed.

“It was good,” the California native told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was amazing.

“I got to get up there with all the other recruits and commits. I got to see the Player Walk for the first time and to get experiences was fun.”

The Centennial High School standout was especially impressed with the Irish’s 31-16 win over USC.

“It was awesome,” he said. “They played with a lot of energy. The defense played great and especially going against my hometown school, USC, it was fun watching that.”

The 6-foot, 175-pounder said he was imagining himself down on the field, something he does whenever he watches the Irish, even if it’s on TV.

“Definitely,” he said. “Every time they play, I envision myself on the field with them.”

He’s confident Marcus Freeman’s scheme will fit him well.

“I think I could play in any type of defense, so I could see myself fitting into any type of scheme,” he said.

The Irish staff was excited to see Mickey again in person and have the chance to catch up.

He was also able to connect with some future teammates.

“I got to hang out with Holden Staes a lot, Nolan (Ziegler) was up there, Ben Morrison and Devin Moore,” he said.

“It was definitely fun and good to build that chemistry before we get up there.”
