Notre Dame Football Recruiting

2023 WR Tyler Williams Grateful for Notre Dame Offer

November 2, 2021

On Monday, Notre Dame extended the 2023 receiver board as Del Alexander offered Lakeland (Fla.) star Tyler Williams‍.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pounder wasn't caught off guard with the offer as Alexander and Notre Dame had been in contact for a few weeks.

"I first heard about it around a week ago," Williams told ISD. "They evaluated my film and I felt I was going to get it. Coach Alexander let me know I showed the best attributes out of the kids they were evaluating, so I kind of knew I was probably going to get it soon."

The Florida native holds early offers from Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Nebraska, Pitt, South Florida, Temple and West Virginia, but Williams knows the offer from Notre Dame is significant.

"It's big," stated Williams. "I know they don't recruit too many guys this way, so to get an offer from Notre Dame is a good thing. That's my top offer as of right now."

Williams will do more research on Notre Dame, but he's familiar with the Irish and has a few friends who the staff is also recruiting.

"I know a good amount about Notre Dame," said Williams. "I know a couple dudes they're recruiting in Polk County who I'm in touch with."

As for his game, Williams is focused on the finer details of the receiver position as he's a threat to take it to house anywhere on the field.

"I'm working to improve catching balls in traffic," Williams said. "Yards after catch and my open field speed are a couple of my strengths."

Williams also holds basketball offers, so all options are on the table at this point, but he could be close to blowing up as he's talking to a few schools who could be close to offering.

"I'm talking to Florida, Florida State and Virginia Tech," Williams said of schools he could get an offer from soon. "I went to Temple this past weekend and that has been my only visit. It was good and great scenery. I was able to talk to the coaches and see the campus."

It's still early in this recruitment, but Williams is keeping things simple as for what he's looking for in a future school.

"I want to find a place where I'm welcome," said Williams. "I want to find a place that feels like home to me."
