Daniel Kaelin‍ saw and did plenty during his trip to Notre Dame this past weekend and the 2024 Nebraska quarterback seemed to like it all.

“It went really well,” the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder said. “I had a really good time.”

The Bellevue West High School standout got checked in and registered at the Irish Athletics Center.

“I got to see the practice field and that indoor facility,” he said. “We ate dinner and met with coaches.”

Kaelin had the chance to speak with Notre Dame offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tommy Rees and Director of Recruiting Aaryn Kearney.

“They were just asking how my season's going,” said Kaelin. “I really like Coach Rees. I feel I connected with pretty well. I like his demeanor. He's really calm. He's telling me to keep working hard. I'll probably try to come back for camp again.”

Prior to heading over to the Stadium, Kaelin had the chance to look around campus.

“I got to see the Basilica, which was really cool,” he said. “Campus is awesome. I camped at Notre Dame last summer. Ot's a really special campus. I've never seen another campus like it.”

Kaelin, who has early offers from Nebraska, Kansas and Florida State, loved the energy inside Notre Dame Stadium for the Irish’s game against North Carolina.

“It was awesome,” he said. “I really liked the atmosphere of the game for sure. The fans were great. They weren't too crazy, but they were into it the whole time. It was obviously a really good game too, so the game atmosphere was good.

“I thought (Notre Dame) played really well. They obviously put up a ton of points on the board. I don't think the defense necessarily played bad, but North Carolina obviously has a really strong offense as well. So it was a really good game. It was fun to watch.”

It was also fun for Kaelin to watch the Irish offense.

“They use a lot of play-action, get the ball out of the hand quick, but they also take shots,” he said. “They have a lot of explosive athletes and they utilize them. I think their offense fits me really well and I really like what they do on offense.

Kaelin will see the Tar Heels again this weekend, when he travels to Chapel Hill for North Carolina’s game against Wake Forest, which will “probably” be his final visit this fall.
