After receiving an offer from Notre Dame last month, Phil Picciotti‍ is set to visit South Bend for the Irish’s game against Navy on Saturday.

“I'm excited,” the 2023 Pennsylvania linebacker told Irish Sports Daily. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.

“I'm looking forward to seeing the campus, actually. We have a good amount of Notre Dame fans and they said it's a really insane, breathtaking experience.”

The Pennridge High School standout picked up his offer from Irish defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman on Oct. 6th.

“It was insane,” the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder said. “I was legit so excited, didn't know what to say. It was great.”

Why was he so excited?

“The fact that it was Notre Dame, honestly,” he said.

Picciotti also has offers from schools like Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia, Virginia Northwestern, Maryland and South Carolina.

He’s kept in regular contact with the Irish since the offer.

“Actually, Coach (John) McNulty stopped by the school two weeks ago just to check in and we've just been texting back and forth,” Picciotti said.

He’s visited Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia and Northwestern so far this season.

“They're all really different in their own ways,” he said. “Like Northwestern, the campus is crazy. Virginia, it's really historical in many different ways.

“They're all different in different ways.”

Picciotti doesn’t have any visit plans beyond this weekend.

“I'm not sure yet. I just go week by week.”
