Mazeo Bennett‍ had planned to visit South Bend last weekend, but the 2024 South Carolina wide receiver had to cancel just days before he was supposed to depart.

But the Greenville, S.C., native quickly rescheduled and made it to Notre Dame for the Irish’s game against Navy on Saturday.

“It went good,” the 6-foot, 165-pounder told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was a great experience.

“We took a tour of the whole campus and I got to talk to a few of the coaches.”

Bennett had the chance to speak with Irish receivers coach Del Alexander and running backs coach Lance Taylor.

“They were glad to have me here,” he said. “Me and Coach Alexander, we've been talking for a little minute, so it was good to finally meet him in person.

“He said he liked my film and he was just glad that I came up there on such short notice. He was just happy that I finally got to see the campus and got to experience a gameday in Notre Dame.”

Bennett was impressed with what he saw and experienced in South Bend.

“The campus was beautiful,” he said. “Campus was amazing.

“The game was good. We were sitting right beside the band and student section. They were throwing each other up. That was awesome.”

Bennett, who has an early offer from Coastal Carolina, isn’t sure what’s next for him and the Irish.

“I didn't get a scholarship today, so hopefully in the near future that happens and I guess we'll go from there,” he said.

The Greenville Senior High School standout has already made trips to Clemson, South Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and Appalachian State.

“Next weekend we're supposed to be going to Florida State and then the weekend after that, South Carolina again.”
