Notre Dame has landed another big-time commitment as 2023 Bishop Gorman (Nev.) cornerback Justyn Rhett‍ has given his pledge to the Fighting Irish.

The four-star prospect chose Notre Dame over Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC.

"I felt like I already knew what school would give me the best in school and sports,” Rhett told ISD earlier this week. “I'm confident in making my decision now.”

Rhett made his first trip to South Bend in June where he ran a 4.4 40-yard dash and then he returned to see Notre Dame beat USC in October.

Former Bishop Gorman and Notre Dame alum Nicco Fertitta is Rhett’s defensive back coach and the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder had high expectations for the Irish program from day one, but the staff surpassed them, including when Marcus Freeman offered him in June.

"Once I visited, I knew I had to build the relationships and see how it went,” stated Rhett. “I was able to get comfortable with the coaches and it's just the right time.

"Coach Freeman was the one who recruited me along with Coach Mickens. I feel it's only going to help the program that he's now the head coach."

Rhett’s commitment is also a sign that Bishop Gorman is back to its old ways as he’s one of many who will be playing at the next level over the next few years.

"We're back,” said Rhett. “We have 35 athletes on our team with Division I opportunities. I feel Bishop Gorman is back on the map."
