2023 Four-Star CB Christian Gray Enjoys Return to Notre Dame
Notre Dame hosted 2023 De Smet (Mo.) cornerback Christian Gray twice during the summer and the four-star prospect returned to campus on Saturday.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder got to witness the 55-0 win, but also got his first live look at Marcus Freeman's defense.
"It was great," Gray told ISD. "It was really fun and they really looked good. It was a good experience for me to know how he runs the defense, switches things up on defense and how he talks to the players, even if they make a mistake. I learned a lot from yesterday's game."
Gray was also watching the cornerbacks closely as he wanted to get a feel for their style of play.
"I was watching a lot from the cornerbacks and how they used techniques and what they learned during the week," stated Gray.
Freeman made time for Gray on Saturday, but the St. Louis native returned to campus on Sunday to get more time with the staff.
"He told me to keep doing what I'm doing - to keep working and getting better," Gray said of his conversations with Freeman.
Cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens also carved out time to make sure he spent some quality time with Gray.
"He told me the game plan from Georgia Tech and how they ran the cornerback scheme," explained Gray. "He said they were going to get back into for Stanford."
Gray doesn't have a commitment date set, but he expects to narrow his recruitment down sooner than later.
"I haven't set a date yet, but I'm going to do my Top 10," said Gray.
