Recruitment Rundown
Not even four months after landing his offer from the Irish in August, Chan announced his commitment to Notre Dame. Chan made the decision before he’d even visited South Bend. Boston College and Penn State made late runs at Chan, but he stuck with the Irish in the end.

Lawrence Academy HC Jason Swepson
“He’s very comfortable with who he is with his voice. He’s standing next to a 5-foot-1 freshman girl or boy and he doesn’t feel awkward or anything. He’s very comfortable with who he is, what he likes and what he wants to do.

“Being a 6-foot-5, 260-pound guy in the chorus, guys can make fun of you or put jokes on you. But during the fall play, the whole team was out there supporting him.

“He’s 6-5, 260. He’s as athletic as can be. He can do whatever he wants on a basketball court, he’s got that kind of agility. He’s a reverse-dunk kid, dribble up the court, make the passes. He can do all of that. He’s agile for that size. In football, his best days are in front of him with his potential. Whatever offensive line coach gets him has a piece of clay they can mold.”

ISD Expert Jamie Uyeyama
I really like this pickup for Notre Dame. This is a player with left tackle traits who is only scratching the surface of the player he is going to become. I love his athleticism and his natural pop off the ball.

At this point, I wouldn’t describe him as a mauler in the run game or anything close to a technician in pass protection, but the pieces are there for him to develop into a stud. He’s a 4-star prospect to me with the potential to be a multi-year starter.

Favorite ISD Quote
“Obviously, football is a really important thing for me and I will give it my 100 percent effort, but if there’s something that I can get out of this for me after my football life, having a good degree and being able to start my family with a good job is important as well to me.

“When I was getting down to my decision, I really just envisioned myself being in the jersey and playing there and being a part of that and how it’s going to feel. From then on, I wanted to make my decision official.”
