When Brian Kelly was brought in as new head coach for Notre Dame, he came in with a reputation for having a high powered offense. He didn't have the 4 and 5 star talent at Cincinnati, but he did have an offense that was 2nd in the nation in yards per play and 1st in FEI.

It would have been unrealistic to think that the Notre Dame offense would be clicking on all cylinders like that when Kelly took over from Charlie Weis, but the expectation was that it would eventually get there.
