Del Alexander and Notre Dame Parting Ways

Notre Dame and Del Alexander are about the part ways with him likely taking an opportunity with another program, sources have told Irish Sports Daily. The move was first reported by 247Sports’ Tom Loy.

Alexander had been with the program since the 2017 season when he joined the staff along with Chip Long. They had a previous relationship working on the Arizona State staff, but Alexander stayed on when Long departed at the end of the 2019 season.

Alexander worked with future NFL Draft picks Equanimeous St. Brown, Miles Boykin, and Chase Claypool while at Notre Dame and production was never an issue for his top guys in any season. Despite that, his group suffered major attrition via the transfer portal in recent years and the lack of depth became a problem due to misses in recruiting.

Notre Dame has signed one receiver in the 2022 class and lost two commitments right before the early signing period. The new receiver coach will have work to do to help add to the roster and bring in more top talent to compete with the top offenses in college football.
