Notre Dame safety Houston Griffith announced his return to the program for a fifth season earlier this month and on Friday, the Chicago native went in-depth on his decision. Griffith has high expectations for the Irish defense, but also the team as watching the National Championship only motivated him.
Griffth wanted to come back to improve as a player, but also to work towards earning the role of captain at Notre Dame.
The Irish improved the safety room last week as Northwestern transfer Brandon Joseph announced he would be attending Notre Dame and Griffth had an impact on that decision. In fact, Griffith and Joseph watched the Alabama-Georgia game together.
Griffith also touched on the excitement of how good the defense could be in 2022 as Notre Dame returns plenty of experience across the board.
