Notre Dame running back Justin Brent is set to transfer from the program, according to a source. Indiana University is a likely destination from what we are told, but other programs are also under consideration.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder arrived in South Bend as a wide receiver, but then made the transition to running back after his first season.
As a freshman, Brent saw the field mostly in a special teams role and then took a redshirt in 2015 during his sophomore season. The former four-star prospect did not play in 2016, as he was recovering from foot surgery.
Brent joins Kolin Hill, Jhonathon Williams, Corey Holmes, Grant Blankenship and Nile Sykes as transfers from the 2014 recruiting class.
Notre Dame's backfield in 2017 will be made of Josh Adams, Dexter Williams, Tony Jones Jr., Deon McIntosh and early enrollee CJ Holmes.
