2023 Notre Dame RB Commit Sedrick Irvin Jr. Ready For Return Trip
Sedrick Irvin Jr. wasn’t too concerned when Brian Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU because the 2023 Irish running back commit still had Lance Taylor on staff in South Bend.
But even with Taylor departing to take the offensive coordinator position at Louisville, Irvin remains set with the Irish and new head coach Marcus Freeman.
“I trust in everything that Coach Freeman and the staff there is doing,” the Florida native told Irish Sports Daily. “I think if anything, the change will only be for the better.”
Freeman and Irish assistant Mike Mickens made their way down to Miami earlier this month to check in on Irvin.
“It was the first or second day that they were able to go out,” he said. “Obviously, it was just great for me, especially with everything that happened.”
Irvin will repay that visit when he returns to South Bend for this weekend’s Junior Day.
“I think it'll be a great time,” said Irvin. “It'll definitely be colder than down here, but I'm definitely excited for it. I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been up in a while.
“I’m looking forward to just meeting up with some of the new recruits. Our class is a little different from the last time I was there, but also a new coaching staff, so that's pretty cool too.”
Irvin is also excited about the opportunity to pitch Notre Dame to the uncommitted prospects in town.
“The same thing I tell everyone,” he said of what his pitch will be this weekend. “This place is really different from everywhere else that you visit.
“Just by being there, you can tell and talk to any recruits, any commits or anybody who's been through Notre Dame, the program can really change your life. That's kind of just the message I get across.”
