Five Former Notre Dame Players Secure NFL Combine Invites

It’s Super Bowl week and that means one week closer to the NFL Draft. The NFL Combine will take place March 1-7 in Indianapolis and the league released its full invite list on Wednesday.

Five former Notre Dame players were invited to Indy:
QB Jack Coan
RB Kyren Williams
WR Kevin Austin Jr.
DL Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa
DB Kyle Hamilton

None of the names come as a shock and all eyes will be on Hamilton as the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder should put up some eye-popping numbers across the board.

The Atlanta native is projected in the top five of most NFL Mock drafts after finishing his three-year career at Notre Dame with 139 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions and 16 passes defended.

Williams could stand to gain the most out of the five players as he'll look to impress scouts and management with his 40-yard dash. The St. Louis native certainly isn't slow, but a 4.4 or 4.5 could lead to a significant bump in the draft as Williams is projected to go in the 3rd or 4th round.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder ran for 2,146 yards and 27 touchdowns while adding 78 catches for 675 yards and four more scores during his three years in South Bend.

Austin could also see his stock rise with a good combine performance. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder essentially played one full season at Notre Dame in four years, but Austin shined with 48 receptions for 888 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Florida native should test well, but the combine won't completely answer his biggest questions about consistently beating press-man and long-term health.

Austin is projected to go anywhere between the 5th round and undrafted at this point.

Tagovailoa-Amosa is projected as a late-round pick and it will be interesting to see where he's projected by NFL teams. The Hawaii native played inside for the first four years of his career and then bumped to big end in 2021.

The 6-foot-2, 282-pounder finished his Notre Dame career with 81 tackles, 17.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

Coan has gained momentum over the last week after a solid week of practice at the Shrine Bowl and then capped it off with a solid performance in the game. The New York native completed 10-of-13 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown in two drives.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder ended his five-year collegiate career at Wisconsin and Notre Dame with 6,428 passing yards, 48 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Coan is projected as a late-round pick according to most mock drafts.
