2024 ATH Caleb Williams Appreciates Notre Dame, Hopes To Return
Caleb Williams went down to Texas last month ready to show he can play with the best players around the country and the 2024 Michigan athlete did just that at the All-American Underclassmen Combine.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder from Canton High School could play on either side of the ball, but worked out at cornerback in San Antonio, his preferred position.
“I would say I'm a pretty athletic player, pretty fluid,” he said. “I know the game well. I would say I'm a student of the game. I can learn fast too, so if a coach wants me to try a new technique, I feel like with my athletic ability, I can put it in play maybe that next rep.”
The talented sophomore already has an offer from Tennessee and has received preliminary interest from several other schools, including Notre Dame.
“I just know it's a really good academic school,” Williams said of Notre Dame. “Obviously, it's got a history of everything. Very successful football program. They're always pretty competitive. Good coaching staff over there. They get good players every year. It's a pretty nice program.
“Tennessee is pretty nice. Michigan, Ohio State too, Michigan State, that's cool. Penn State, Cincinnati, a lot of schools. Personally, I think they're all kind of just crazy to me.”
Williams made the trip down to South Bend for the Irish’s game against Purdue last fall.
“That was great,” he said. “The stadium was amazing; fans and everything get really into the game. Third down, you can't even really hear anything. It's a pretty unique experience.
“I'd definitely love to come back.”
He also made trips to Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan State and Cincinnati. He’d like to make return trips to those and hit a couple others as well.
“Definitely Penn State, that's one. I know they have a really good environment up there and then an Ohio State game would be nice too.”
