Josiah Brown‍ FaceTimed with Notre Dame Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden last week, when Bowden cut to the chase.

“He brought me up to the head coach, Mr. Freeman, Coach (Marcus) Freeman and he gave me the big news,” the 2024 New York safety told Irish Sports Daily of receiving an offer from Notre Dame.

“My reaction was ecstatic. I was excited and I was just happy for the way things turned out.”

The Holy Trinity High School standout also has offers from Rutgers, Penn State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

He’s intrigued by the offer from Notre Dame.

“I was told about the culture, how the school is, not even the athletics, but from an academic standpoint,” Brown said.

“It was just big news for me.”

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder first connected with the Irish a couple months ago and has been in touch with several times since then.

“I'm still going to learn more about the school and then take it from there,” Brown said of the next step in the process.

He’s hopeful he’ll be able to get to South Bend for a visit sometime soon.

“That’s the plan,” he said. “I would like to see the whole facility, the dorms, the locker room and how the players are in a practice or even a game.”

So far, he’s been to Rutgers for a visit, but hasn’t had the chance to visit any other schools just yet.

Comfort will be a legitimate factor in his ultimate decision.

“One of the biggest factors is if I feel like I'm in a home away from home, like how the culture is. How do people bring me in, academics and that's it.”
