Will Heldt‍ made his way up to South Bend on Saturday to see Notre Dame and take in an Irish spring practice.

“It went well,” the 2023 Indiana defensive end/linebacker told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “We had a good time.”

Heldt currently has offers from schools like Purdue, Northwestern, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota and Wake Forest among others.

“We started off in the team meeting,” the 6-foot-6, 240-pounder said. “We broke off into the d-line meetings. From there, we just went to practice, watched practice. They did a little scrimmage today for 45 minutes, which was good to see.”

After practice, Heldt toured campus and did a photoshoot.

He had the opportunity to speak with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and defensive line coach Al Washington before and after practice.

“I talked to Coach Freeman a couple of times,” Held said. “He was great. Definitely a really humble guy. He definitely really seemed to care about our conversation. He was a good guy.”

The Carmel High School standout spent even more time talking with Washington.

“We just had a good talk about the recruiting process and where it’s going,” said Heldt.

“Moving forward, they’re going to come out and see me in the spring for a practice. From there, we’ll see.”

Notre Dame is an offer Heldt would certainly like to land.

“It’s definitely something I would love to seriously consider,” he said.

Heldt doesn’t have any other visits locked in just yet, but plans to hit several schools this month.
