2024 Largo (Fla.) linebacker Adarius Hayes‍ picked up an offer from Notre Dame in March and made his way to South Bend this weekend for the Blue-Gold Game.

The four-star prospect got plenty of time with the Irish staff, which he appreciated as he made the long trip from Florida.

“Some of the highlights was meeting the coaching staff,” Hayes told ISD. “I met Marcus Freeman, Coach Al Golden, Coach Chad (Bowden) and Coach (Brian) Mason.”

Golden made a big impression as he took the time to explain Notre Dame’s defense, but also where he saw Hayes’ versatile game fitting into it.

“During my conversation with Coach Golden, we talked about what he envisioned the defense to look like in the next couple of years and how I could fit into the scheme,” stated Hayes. “He mentioned that with my speed and versatility I could be in the box as well as being a hybrid that could move and rush from the outside or drop into coverage.”

The Florida native was also able to mix it up with Notre Dame’s commits and other top prospects. It allowed Hayes to get a feel for who could be playing with and how they could mesh off the field.

“It was great meeting with other recruits that are committed to Notre Dame,” Hayes said. “I got a chance to build a little bond with them.”

All in all, Hayes couldn’t have had a better weekend, including Notre Dame fans showing him love at the spring game.

“Everything at Notre Dame surprised me,” said Hayes. “I got to sign my autograph with some Notre Dame fans.

“There are no doubts about me coming back up for another visit because I would love to come back to South Bend for an actual game.”
